See What Mosquito-Borne Virus Did to This Man.

Chikungunya fever is an arthropod-borne virus which is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. It is characterized by high fever and moderate to severe joint pain. Currently, there is no treatment for chikungunya fever and the only way to prevent it is to avoid mosquito bites. However, the virus is seldom serious and rarely fatal.

The virus was first identified in Tanzania in 1952, comes from the African Makonde language and means “bent over in pain.” is now in many countries

Symptoms of chikungunya fever includes..

  1. High Fever
  2. Joint pain
  3. Purple rashes on the body or limbs
  4.  Red spots on the body
  5. Joint pain,muscle pain
  6. persistent headaches, nausea, fatigue,
  7. vomiting, photophobia and partial loss of taste.

  • Infected persons should be protected from further mosquito exposure during the first few days of their illness. If they are bitten by a mosquito, the cycle will continue if/when the now-infected mosquito then bites someone else.
  • The incubation period for the virus can be 2-12 days, but is normally 3-7 days.
  • The laboratory diagnosis of viruses transmitted by arthropods is usually done by testing of serum or cerebrospinal fluid to detect virus-specific neutralizing antibodies.
  • Treatment is symptomatic, meaning the symptoms of the infection are treated, as the infection itself has no known cure.
  • Boost the immune system by intaking or drinking fluids rich in beta de glucan found in mushrooms one example is classic herbs double power beta d glucan.
