  The Registrar of National Examinations Council, NECO, Prof. Godswill Obioma has been reported dead. Obioma, according to Vanguard’s source, died Monday night in his sleep in his Minna residence.  The Director, Human resources of the NECO, Abdul Mustapha confirmed the death of the NECO boss, said he died in his sleep as a result of heart failure.   Mr Mustapha forwarded communication from Obioma’s second son, Prince Godswill Obioma, informing him of the death of his father thus: “Mustapha K. NECO Registrar Godswill Obioma has been assassinated. According to Twitter user, the registrar and wife had just returned to Minna, Niger state from Abuja when the assassins, got hold of him & strangled him.

 A military  Beachcraft 350 aircraft has crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday, claiming all nine souls onboard including the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 7 others The Punch reports that the ill-fated aircraft crashed at the airport’s runway about 6 pm. Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria, Akin Olateru, confirmed that the eight souls died onboard.

  Baba Ijesha granted bail Actor Baba Ijesha, whose real names are Olanrewaju has been granted bail. Though Baba Ijesha is yet to be released as his lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana, is working towards perfecting his bail condition which includes that he must have two sureties. One of the sureties must be a Level 10 Public officer while the second surety must be a relation of the actor.  The bail is put at N500, 000 in bond   The actor who has been in police custody since April for allegedly defiling the foster daughter of comedian, Princess, was granted bail today May 17, on health grounds by a magistrate who was at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID Panti to review some cases in a bid to decongest the police facility.     The accused actor is yet to be charged to court due to the industrial strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN)

Uduak Akpan, the suspected killer of Iniubong Umoren, a job-seeker from Akwa Ibom, on Friday during a parade by the police, owned up to the crime. Mr Akpan, who lured the 26-year-old graduate with a fake job interview on April 29, killed her and buried her remains in a shallow grave in his father’s compound. Ms Umoren was confirmed dead on April 30 and  buried on friday at her hometown, Nung Ita, Ikot Essien in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.   On Friday, the police paraded Mr. Akpan and his father, Frank Akpan, at their headquarters in Uyo, the state capital.
